Parent Student Organization (PSO)

The St. Charles Borromeo Parent School Organization (PSO) was founded within our school community in 1987, with the goal of bringing parent volunteer and fundraising efforts to our school. Unlike a traditional public school PTA, every parent with an enrolled student at SCB is a part of the PSO, and there is no membership fee. Our goal is to work together, sharing our individual talents and time to help conduct fundraising efforts, plan social events for our families, and organize staff appreciation events.

PSO Social Events
The PSO, with the help of parent volunteers, helps plan and fundraise for the following social events and activities: 

  • First Day Celebration (August)

  • Family Fun Night (Fall and/or Spring)

  • Donuts with Dad (October)

  • Scholastic Book Fair (November)

  • Christmas Concert Cookies and Cocoa Reception (December)

  • Christmas Shoppe (December)

  • Daddy Daughter Dance (February)

  • Mother/Son Bowling (Spring)

  • Father/Son Event (Spring)

  • Mother/Daughter Event (Spring)

  • Muffins with Mom (May)

  • Field Day (May)

  • Uniform Resale (Multiple)

Fundraisers
Families support the PSO through a variety of fundraising projects each year. Fundraisers typically include (and are subject to change):

  • Fall Mum Sale

  • Christmas Floral & Holiday Greens Sale

  • Spring Floral Sale

  • Monthly Dine & Shares (usually held the last Tuesday of each month)

  • Uniform Resale

These fundraisers allow the PSO to provide social events for our families and staff appreciation events at little to no cost. Additional funds raised are used to support the school's curriculum, such as covering the cost of buses for field trips, covering the cost of roller skate rentals for students in P.E., assemblies, etc. 

Getting Involved
If you are interested in being an active member of the PSO, please contact the PSO at scbpso@scbparish.org, or see the Volunteer Section of the handbook for more information. Each year, we provide opportunities at back-to-school night for parents to sign up for PSO events to fulfill their volunteer hours. Parents can select events of their choosing to give back, guided by the PSO. We also have various Board Membership Roles. These roles are established in the spring. If you are interested in a Board role, please contact scbpso@scbparish.org. The following roles are currently established:

  • Hospitality Chair

  • Spirit Wear Chair

  • Social Media Chair

Many parents find the PSO to be a wonderful way to connect with other families, share their gifts and talents, offer input, and answer God’s call to serve.
